We went a few weeks ago, and granted the wedding was nice (it only lasted 7 minutes), though the minister was a little creepy. The reception was interesting. It was held at the American Legion (and apparently if you're not old and a veteran/current military person you can't come in). I've never heard of this place before (naive as I may be), so as we go in the dance hall side we are serenaded by the karaoke from the bar. I'm, at this point, almost in tears from laughing so much and people are bringing in their food. I have no idea what to bring to a pot-luck wedding, so we brought a salad. There was anything from roasted jalapenos to chili to deviled eggs. I was impressed by the spread but also cautious! We ate and talked and had a good time, but left when the real drinking started....it was getting late anyway.

This is only a brief glimpse of what the evening was like, but I can definitely say I've been to a pot-luck wedding!

New Directions, update

So, if you've notice I haven't mentioned anything about what was to take place in December, its because nothing did. Once we found out how much it will cost us, and we've made some major family decisions, this has been placed on the back burner until we can devote our time to this specifically. Raymond has decided to go back to school and we are focusing on that for the time being. It's not like I'm getting too old or anything. I'm still young and have many childbearing years ahead! Again, thanks for all the prayers, you have no idea how much you all mean to me!!

Icky little things....

For those of you who know where we live, you know that for some reason Wal-Mart needs to be built literally on the other side of the street from our house. And because of this, all of God's creatures are homeless. This saddens me, until the mice started invading our home....now I know God created mice for a reason and I'm sure it wasn't to creap girls out, but still ICK!!! So after Raymond (not I) has captured and killed his lifetime's share (and dad too!) we thought we were finally done with these nasty rodents. This has been going on for at least 4-5 months and trust me I was done with them from the beginning.

Anyway, we were watching the UFC fights on Dec 27 and out of the corner of my eye I see one. And apparently this is the fat little dude that likes to eat everything in my house.....so of course I scream and Raymond and his cousin, Kevin, are turning over the chair and trying to "beat" the mouse out. It (probably scared to death) runs out of the chair and up under the couch. Unsuccesfully, the guys "beat" on that for a few minutes....meanwhile, I am sitting up on the counter in my kitchen looking at them through our window. No mouse appears (thank God, cuz I don't think I could witness what would have happened if it did). Raymond places a sticky trap in front of the couch, and several places in the kitchen. Within a day or so this little guy has been captured and dealt with.

Praying this was the last one......Jamie, Kendall and Lola came over. Jamie was helping me rearrange my kitchen stuff and Kendall and Raymond were putting up the surround sound. Lola, was Lola....well, poor Jamie was trying to empty out the last od the cabinets, while I was distracting Lola for a minute and all of a sudden I heard a pregnant woman scream! She had picked up my picnic basket and low and behold THE MOUSE ran out! Bless her heart, because if that was me, I would never, ever open that cabinet again! Trust me, we have a cabinet that I will NOT open! So, great we have another mouse! Raymond baited the traps again and set them out periodically through the kitchen. Well Tuesday I was making dinner and I noticed the taletale signs of a mouse (the poop) near one of the traps. I figured we had ourselves a smart little sucker that was just eating our bait and not getting "stuck" to the trap, so I carry on with what I'm doing and open our cabinet that our pasta and rice sides are in. There is spilled noodles and rice and seasonings everywhere (Yea!!), so Raymond got the joy of cleaning that (again, because of the never going in that cabinet thing) and while he's picking through all the opened bags but like 5 (out of around 20) the mouse jumps out!

By this point, this little guy's has a death warrent out and the reward just increased. I rushed home last night to hurry and finish picking up the house before our company came over and everytime I walked by this one cabinet I could hear scratching. Now, those who know me know that I don't handle dead things very well....so of course I don't look (plus this IS the cabinet I refuse to open anyway!). Raymond comes home about an hour later, I tell him we might have a visitor in the cabinet, and as soon as he opened the door you could hear it squeeling : (. This bothered me, but Raymond took care of that....I won't go into details, but lets just say it didn't suffer long.

So long story short, hopefully we are done with the mice for a while!

New directions...

For those that are curious....we decided to make an appointment with a fertility specialist. Its now been 1 year and 3 or 4 months since we've been trying to get pregnant. After dealing with my issues and finding out Raymond doesn't have any issues, this is the route we are moving towards. Its not necessarily the way I want to go, but we need some answers.

I was thrown back by my mother-in-law asking me if we've "given to to God". She's not the most religious person, and this just shocked me. I was never expecting that to come out of her mouth. I told her we have, but it made me think. Was this God's way of telling us He has something better in store, or we need to go see someone who will explain what is going on? I'm confused, but content. I(we) need an answer to why this just isn't working. And trust me, its not because we're trying too hard, or we aren't doing it enough, or anything like that. I HAVE TRIED IT ALL!

And of course, you mention fertility specialist to some people and they start thinking about Jon & Kate plus 8! The Lord know I would love this, but I'm not so sure I would remain sane! Hopefully in a few weeks we will have some sort of an idea of our new direction.

Oh yeah, and Raymond is going to start school soon for a nursing program. It's not because I didn't want to, its the fact that for some reason I can't find enough hours in the day to do everything I need to. We just finished having a flu clinic at work. This consisted of 5 days. Wed & Thurs of one week and Wed, Thurs, & Fri of the next....For some strange reason I also agreed to babysit Fri & Sat two weeks in a row....so spending 11-12 hours at work and then babysitting, I started to forget what my husband looked like! (ok, not really. He actually came and babysat with me, so we could spend some time together) Now we have the flu clinic behind us (1500 shots later) and we are anticipating the money to come fairly soon now (yea! more late days!!).

1st Anniversary

Raymond and I celebrated out 1st anniversary on Aug 25. We both took the day off (thank goodness it was a Monday, yea! for 3 day weekends!) and went to the zoo. i know it's not extravagant, but we're saving that for later! We ran our errands in the morning, checked out some local shops downtown (seriously, we need to shop in Broken Arrow more. There's some really cool stuff!) and then headed to the zoo. In the pictures below you can see that we decided to feed the birds....apparentluy if you stand under a tree you will get pooped on (I found out the hard way).

Then we decided to watch the sea lion show....that actually was very informative!

Of course I couldn't leave the zoo without seeing the frogs! I guess that's what happens when all you seem to do is work! Raymond and I have our 1 year anniversary on Monday! We're aren't doing anything special this year.....going to the zoo, getting a new cake to eat (since our was ruined with the ice storm) and probably go out to dinner. Nothing too fancy, though I'm sure he will find an excuse to see a movie or something!

I've definitely given myself a busy weekend (AGAIN) with work on Saturday and teaching Sunday School on Sunday, but hey I'm young, right?! It seems like my weekends are busier than my week days, and yet I still don't get everything done. This being responsible stuff is hard work, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

No pregnancy update yet....I think I got my results too late in the month for that to work for us, but September looks good to me (actually anytime does, but the more I think about it, the more anxious and overwhelmed I feel). Raymond is good to go, but it seems to be that I am the one causing the delay. I had to get established with a new PCP because of an insurance change. Apparently, my thyroid is enlarged, which in turn means delay in pregnancy. I wish I new this a year ago!! It really would have helped me with stress and depression, but at least now we are the right road. We still need prayers, but hopefully this is a turning point. I don't feel older, I don't look older, the only difference from turning 23 to turning 24 is, now I'm married. I have never been one that expects a gift and especially not flowers (mostly because of my allergies). So I diligently working and here comes an arrangement of flowers. They were gorgeous. All lime green and yellow in a lime green vase. I was definitely surprised. But when I open the card, it was from my parents! I don't think they have ever sent me flowers, so needless to say I was a little shocked (in a good way). So afterward I go to lunch with Raymond. We are talking, and I told him about the flowers Mom and dad sent me and just nonchalantly asked if he was sending me flowers. He said he wasn't and we went on eating (this is after I got a new sandwich, because of a nicely placed hair). I then asked if he was going to give me a card, that was the least he could do. He likes to tease me. He told me the day isn't over and I just need to wait (thats like telling a kid he can't have candy until after dinner). Just not fair. Well I go back to work, and I'm not in my chair more than 15 minutes and here comes this monstrous arrangement. Its over 3 feet tall!! I KNEW this was from Raymond! So my smile came back to my face (not like it ever left) and I am now surrounded by flowers everywhere!

Beginnings

Ok, so Jamie inspired me to try this out!
